I enjoyed
an amazing career in the veterinary medical
industry for twenty years
before changing jobs two years ago. I miss it terribly
- but not the long hours and the industry standard of
few or no benefits.
I
am lucky enough to have met a wonderful array of fellow
animal lovers over the years who have asked me to care
for their animals in their homes. Every one
of my long-term clients is a friend and I love their
pets as much as my own.
I
began working as a veterinary assistant when I graduated from
high school and started college as a pre-vet student. I loved the nursing
aspect of the field, and became very skilled in areas like
laboratory technology, radiography, and surgical
assistance. I had the opportunity to work with many
exotic species, and participated in wildlife rehab. I loved the job so much, I
stuck with it for twenty years! I considered my "specialty" to be
geriatric and critically ill animals. I have been able
to work with
many clients at home - teaching them how to care for a
seriously disabled or ill pet.
My
junior year in college, I decided that being a mom was
more important than vet school, and have been very happy
with the path I chose.
Over
the years, I have managed a fifty-staff-member animal hospital in Studio City,
California, another in the San Fernando Valley, and a
breeder specialty practice in Santa Rosa, California. I
also worked in a busy emergency clinic, and a holistic
veterinary hospital. My most recent
management position was with Mount Shasta Animal
Hospital, where I worked for four years before changing
careers.
My
current clients are doctors, nurses, teachers,
psychologists, attorneys, bankers, firefighters, law-enforcement officers, city officials, and many other well-respected
members of the community.
I will gladly
provide references upon request.
